Why is Samsung Washer Blinking Light?
If your Samsung washer is blinking light while it usually works, you don’t have to worry. However, if the machine starts to blink and does something unusual like stop mid-cycle, the light indicates an error.
The pattern or the combination of lights appearing on your appliance is the first clue to solving the question of why is your Samsung washer blinking light. Therefore, you will have to notice the pattern to determine the error and be able to solve it.
1- Blinking Light: Extra Large or Extra High or Large or High
If your machine shows this error code, the water is being filled correctly inside your machine. This combination of lights stands for not filling error, which can happen due to several things.
If the inlet hoses of your washing machine are not appropriately connected to your machine and the supply valves, the water will not be supplied to your machine.
There should be no twists or kinks to your hoses, and the supply valves shouldn’t be closed. The drain hose also can be one of the reasons if it is extended inside your machine tub more than it should be.
The drain hose will create a siphoning effect, which means the water will never be filled. Because the once the water level reaches the drain hose, it will be drained, and then the machine starts filling it again.
2- Blinking Light: Hot & Small/Hot & Low
This error code stands for the Hot/Cold error, meaning the cold inlet hose has a problem. The problem is that the water supplied by the cold inlet hose is too hot.
Any washing machine has a cold and hot inlet hose if the hoses are switched by mistake. This will result in the cold hose supplying hot water, which causes the Hot/Cold error.
3- Blinking Light: Small/Low
If your machine has a problem in the draining process, it will display this error code. This error stands for “No Drain”; either the water is not drained completely, or the water is not drained at all.
The reason or the cause behind this error can be multiple things, like if your drain hose is not installed correctly. If your washing machine is titled or not leveled, this can result in it being unable to drain the water.
4- Blinking Lights: Tap C0ld, Cool, Medium(or Mid)
If water is not being drained correctly, it will result in a “No Drain” error; as we have discussed, it also can result in this error. This combination of blinking lights stands for an overflow error.
The overflow error means that there is too much water in your washer; this can result if your drain hose has a problem or the washer is not level, so it cannot drain the water; as a result, water overflows.
5- Blinking Lights: Cold (or Eco Warm)
This error differs from the previous ones because it is unrelated to the washing or draining cycles. This error is “Jammed Button Fault,” meaning a stuck button on your washer control board.
If something is pushing on one of the buttons of your washer, this error will be displayed. If you have a faulty button that, after being pressed, stays in the same position, then it’s the reason.
6- Blinking Lights: Hot, Hot & Extra High, Hot & Extra Large, Hot & Large (or Hot & High)

After we have discussed the meaning of every light combination and pattern, I will now tell you how to solve every error and get your washing machine back working.
1- How to Fix Blinking Light: Extra Large or Extra High or Large or High?
The “Not Filling” error means a problem exists with the inlet, inlet valves, or drain hoses. So, you will have to troubleshoot it to know the exact reason behind this error.
- Check the inlet hoses; the washer has two inlet hoses. One hose should be connected to the hot water inlet. The second inlet hose should be connected to the cold water inlet.
- The inlet hoses must be straight and don’t have any twists or kinks to allow the passage of the water.
- The water supply valves should be completely open to allow water flow.
- Check the drain hose; it shouldn’t be extended inside the tub for more than eight inches. If the hose is too long, it will create a siphoning effect, and the water will not be filled.
- If the drain hose is twisted or kinked, it will not drain the water properly.
- The drain hose is fixed to the washer using a screw, so you will need to check if the hose is securely fixed to the washer.
- The last step is resetting your washing machine, which can be done using the circuit breaker or by unplugging the washer and plugging it in again.
2- How to Fix Blinking Light: Hot & Small/Hot & Low?
The “Hot/Cold” error means that the connections of your inlet hoses are switched. You can fix this by switching the cold inlet hose with the hot inlet hose.
You can use the colors to help you know which inlet is cold and which is hot. The blue inlet is for cold water, and the red inlet is for hot water, so match the blue with blue and the red with red.
3- How to Fix Blinking Light: Small/Low?
The “No Drain” means that the washing machine is either taking too much time to drain the water or is not draining. Therefore, you must ensure the washing machine is level, and the drain hose is installed correctly.
If you use a front-load washing machine, the problem can be in your pump filter; therefore, you must check and clean any debris clogging it.
- Check the washer level; the washer should not be tilted; it has to be level to drain the water properly.
- The drain hose must be inserted between six to eight inches; extending it for more than eight inches will create a siphoning effect. If the hose is extended for less than six inches, it will not drain the water.
